JOB REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

This position reports to the Global Director of Engineering

SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This individual is the Global Subject Matter Expert (GSME) for leather finishing. This is a hands on position focusing on leather finishing activities related Global Standardization, Training, and Problem Solving. This Position:

• Requires 50% travel
• Spends majority of working hours on the production floor and/training
• Develops an maintains strong relationship with:
• Finishing product development (OD) team
• Technical leaders in all finishing operations locations
• Finishing managers in all finishing operations locations
• Machine suppliers
• Material suppliers (chemicals)
• Supports all global new product development by assisting the Finishing PD team
• Must be able to successfully manage multiple concurrent projects to target closures.  Self-driven
• Creates, documents, and trains Global Best Practices for all activities
• Establishes Global Standards for production equipment
• Implements and maintains sustainable solutions
• Works closely with retan teams, and understands the interaction of retan to finishing
• Works closely with cutting teams, and understands the interaction of finishing to cutting
• Work closely with laboratory chemists on innovative ideas and solutions
• Identifies and communicates improvement projects to machine suppliers and internal product development team
• Has regular contact with existing equipment suppliers providing direction and evaluating technologies/systems
• Research potential new suppliers and technology related to continuous improvement and innovations
• Maintains records and assists in the creation and completion of DOEs, DRBFM, and DFMEA documentation
• Assists in transfer of new technology to plants on new item scale-ups based on APQP process
• Prepares report sand follow up related to all activities, as well as periodic

REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree of Science
• Coatings application experience required, strongly preferred in leather
• R&D and/or Product Development formulation experience a bonus
• Master level Color Matching experience required
• Understands specifications, haptics & other expectations for all automotive OEMs
• Systematic methodology understanding – six sigma, DRBFM, DFMEA, APQP
• Data analysis skills preferred
• Analytical and physical testing understanding and skills
• Ability to work independently an as part of the team
