Nothing Replaces Real
Over time, our world has become synthetic. What people crave now is a departure from fake; an embrace of natural, authentic, sustainable products enhanced by true artisans. As some companies pivot and attempt to return to more natural processes, Pangea has never strayed from our organic roots. We have known since our founder Joseph Byron tanned his very first hide, Nothing Replaces Real.
Pangea is working to connect with nature in a deeper sense; a part of nature, entwined . These transcendent moments take our breath away and make us pause to appreciate the world around us. They bring the tints and tones of these natural phenomena into our leather products.

Ultra Light
Our 2023-2024 Trend Show aims to rekindle our connection to the natural world. At Pangea, we’ve sought out practices that elevate leather and allow it’s qualities to shine in new ways. By bringing the tints and tones of natural phenomena into our leather products, we stay true to our ultimate inspiration, that Nothing Replaces Real.
We were inspired by moments when light and nature work together to compose stunning hues — the Deep Tyrian Purples of mountains in the distance, the Ultra-Light Pastel Lilac and Sunset Red that emanate from clouds as the day ends, the Golden Harvest and Fallow Tans of wheat fields, the Sunrise yellow hues that dance on the horizon at dawn.
Sunshine
Vendura with Athens Grain / PDR2161
Sunshine yellow, a pigment originally from the solidified sap of Gardenia trees in Cambodia, has roots in scrollwork in Japan, China, and India. Eventually exported by the East India Company in 1615 to Windsor and Newton for introduction to European artists.
Sunset
777 Grain / PDR2984
Sunset is red, a reflection of built-up energy and a color of vitality. This classic red has roots in Roman times when the mineral Cinnabar was ground into the color Vermillion for use in ceremonies and paintings.
Sunrise Handspray Gradient
Vendura with Athens Grain / PDR3146
Much like a sunrise greets us across the entire sky, this hand-sprayed technique brings the sample to life, painting a scene that grabs your attention from every angle and showcases a gradual play of color and light that draws you in, guiding your eyes along its range of hues.
Rise
Pangea Custom Emboss
Our RISE collection is inspired by the sun’s progress across the sky each day. At dawn, that first glimpse of warm golden light invigorates the soul. At sunset, as red hues paint the sky, there is a peaceful resolution. These moments allow us to reflect on the earth’s natural beauty and dream of opportunities for tomorrow.
Buff
777 grain / PDR2983
Buff, a shortened form of buffalo, comes from the 16th and 17th century when the word was used to describe a buttery tanned ox leather — a thicker, more robust kind, now known as chamois. Although decorative today, in its time it was commonly associated with fighting and used for protection.
Fallow
Ecoda / PDR2159
Fallow is a faded caramel color and is one of the oldest color names in the English language. Its origin references farmland resting between seasons of use to replenish the soil, as well as animal fur, as Beowulf used it to describe horses.
Fallow Glossy Tipped Emboss
Ecoda / PE45 Emboss / PDR3249
Our technical embossing process represents a return to the real, pairing an original leatherworking technique with intricate patterns that — if you look closely — are inspired by the natural world. Geometric and fractal designs have been created by both humans and nature since the dawn of time. They are both naturally occurring and endlessly created, with no two patterns alike.
Golden Harvest Ink Jet & Emboss
777 grain / J38 Ink Jet & T258 Emboss / PDR3577
We’re inspired by the emergence each spring of new life, new growth, and new colors — as shoots and buds reach toward the sunlight, tangling and stretching to brighten our world. We use sustainable inks and apply them in between leather coatings, giving us the ability to achieve high-quality, durable, and flexible printed images that stay true to the natural state of our leather.
Harvest
Pangea Creative Tooling Design
The desire to replenish what we have taken from the earth is a drumbeat that grows stronger every day. We see this obligation in movements rethinking how we build cities of the future and what role transportation needs to play in replenishing resources. The HARVEST collection reconnects us with traditional techniques of leather working techniques and updates them for tomorrow’s needs.

At Pangea, our ink jet printing process marries precision and vibrancy to create magic. Without any bleed, you can clearly see where each line begins and ends. Imagine walking through a field of lilacs; the intense color surrounding you, the delicate flowers swaying in the breeze, the lovingly planted rows guiding you to the horizon.
Grand Purple

Grand Purple is a rich and regal color that has held a prominent place in human history. This opulent hue has been used for centuries in the clothing of monarchs and as a symbol of power and wealth. It can create a mood of calm and contemplation, making it the perfect choice when aiming for a sense of refinement and grandeur.

Deep Tyrian
Genuine Grain / PDR2155
Deep Tyrian has long been documented all along the Mediterranean. Associated with power and royalty, Tyrian-dipped cloth was worth its weight in gold because it was made of two types of regional shellfish. As purple was scarce in nature in the West, its otherworldly aura was reserved for royalty. This color represents connection, care, and richness.
Ultra Light Violet with Embroidery
Essence E75 Embroidery / PDR3272
The origins of embroidery can be traced as far back as 30,000 BC, when humans first produced fabric. Today, we still use needle-and-thread to go beyond utilitarian function and bring artistry into our everyday life. This marriage of traditional and modern techniques can unlock designs that push our craft into the future.
Ultra Light Violet
Essence / PDR2156
Ultra Light Violet is inspired by two beautiful shades: Mauve and Violet. The color Mauve was accidentally discovered in 1856 by William Perkins, a young scientist experimenting with new ways to extract quinine from coal tar to treat malaria. Violet was used with gusto 20 years later by the impressionists — so much so, they were accused of suffering from “violet-omania.”
